Saturday Morning Throwy: A Pup Named Scooby Doo

So the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon series had gotten a rebirth to break down the roots of Mystery Inc. It was the nitty gritty of the committee and of course the infamous introduction of Red Herring. The difference between the chase scenes in this animation versus the classic is that they would cut to clips of each character of the team, and usually the apparent villain, dancing, na mean. These kids had some of the weirdest adventures known to childhood, and they made it to their young adulthood unscathed! Fortunately the sequel was written way before the prelude and you get an idea of who was what and what was who. In the end, they found a van and learned that smoking weed was the best way to cope with such traumatic experiences. Peace be to the trees and evil lurky people. And we would've of gotten away with it too....

Saturday Morning Throwy: Rambo

One of America's most influential good guys that made Arnold look like a chump through the corny stabs that they would throw at each other during their action movie reign had received the gift of immortality when captured in cartoon form. Sly Stallone not only happens to be the Demolition Man opposite of Wesley, but was the original Vietnam Vet that was just trying to go home.

His struggle was against overzealous law enforcers and any kind of foreign goons that threatened POW's. His super ability to withstand torture and almost MacGyver like improvisation skills only further showed his strength and dedication to getting the job done.

Saturday Morning Throwy: Mega Man

Its been a while since we posted one of these so we are all well over due.

So for most of the people that had a childhood around the time that we on the show were alive, you were aware of this blaster cannon wielding guy by the name of Mega Man. For the longest he was an 8-bit character that could charge up and blast through some the most difficult two dimensional worlds known to man.  After his long industrious career as a super hero and turning down multiple movie offers, his agent and friends suggested that he touchdown in the TV galaxy.

Saturday Morning Throwy: He-Man and the Masters of the Universe

So as most of you jive turkeys may or not know, this was a former life of mine. Looking for Skeletor, screaming I have the power and fucking around with my etch-a-sketch. When life was all about fighting for good and all it took was a magical sword, I had it all figured out.

Eventually Dolph Lundgren took the physical form and killed all of my dreams of actually becoming He-Man and I moved on. I decided I was going to be a more realistic hero of this realm which was inspired by another movie and cartoon series. Want to know who? Check back with us next week.

Saturday Morning Throwy: The Smurfs

Back when tripping on acid was cool, a lonely homeless man and his cat snuck into a castle of cardboard and imagined all of this. Little blue people who have been so sex crazed that it changed their whole complexion. One blonde that doesn't even know she is the main attraction of the whole village and big poppa who is the only one getting buns. This whole series was a whole bunch of madness covered in sugar. The only thing better were the smurfs aquatic cousins, the snorks... but I digress.

I didn't watch the movie for the sake of keeping acid trips in a classical cartoon form.

Saturday Morning Throwy: Jayce & The Wheeled Warriors (ep1)

Good morning ninjas, our bad about the lapse in posts especially this one in particular. Ninjas be on missions sometimes and that's all i'm at liberty to say about that. Anyways let's get right back into it. This week's throwy is one of my personal favorites in that the premise of the show was so balls out insane at the time to me i couldn't help but take notice & watch. JAYCE AND THE WHEELED WARRIORS originally aired in September of 1985 and lasted for 65 episodes when it was cancelled in December of 1985. This cartoon like many others in the 80's & 90's was initially done to promote a toy line. I won't really go into the specifics of the plot because of its sheer mad genius but i will tell you the conflicting factions of the series are "The Lightning League (Jayce n' dem) and "The Monster Minds". Jayce n' dem ride in advanced, highly waeponized vehicles while the Monster Minds generate their vehicles from intergalactic, bio-mechanical evil vegetation (yeah; i know, right). So here's the first episode, enjoy that.

Saturday Morning Throwy: Defenders of Earth (ep1)

What's good ninjas? This weekend's throwy comes all the way from 1986. The DEFENDERS OF EARTH was pretty much the the second great animated team up after Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends which aired from 1984-1986. While Defenders was much more hardcore (Flash Gordon's wife was tortured killed then had her consciousness uploaded into a computer)it only stuck around for one season & 65 episodes. The group consisted of characters that appeared in newspaper comicstrips published by King Features Syndicate. The Phantom, Flash Gordon and Mandrake the Magician were the main characters charged with defending the earth (duh). Rounding out the team of heroes were Lothar, Mandrake's bodygaurd, assistant and seasoned "caribbean ninja" (seriously, his action figure's packaging labeled him a "caribbean ninja". Also there was Rick Gordon, Flash Gordon's computer genius son, L.J., Lothar's son skilled in the martial arts ('cause when your dad is a carribean ninja your extracurriculars are limited) Jedda Walker, Phantom's daughter, Kshin, Mandrake's adopted son and Dynac X aka Dale Arden, the aforementioned psyche of Flash Gordon's murdered wife uploaded into a super computer. Together they fought the evil of Ming the Merciless and other would be evil doers jeopardizing the Earth safety. Saturday Morning Throwy: X-Men (pilot episode)

Good Mornternoon ninjas. This weekend's throwy comes way back from 1989 with the pilot episode of the first ever X-MEN cartoon. Titled the PRYDE OF THE X-MEN the episode depicts Kitty Pryde's aka Shadowcat's arrival at Professor Charles Xavier's school for gifted youngsters and the X-Men's inevitable ongoing conflict with Magneto & the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants (they're the bad guys). This version actually aired as apart of the same cartoon block as the original Robocop cartoon that we posted a few weeks ago and was supposed to be a full series but due to financial troubles and corporate shenanigans all we got was the pilot episode. So here it is in all of its singular glory i give you. X-MEN: PRYDE OF THE X-MEN, enjoy.

Saturday Morning Throwy: Tiger Sharks (ep 1)

In 1987 TIGERSHARKS were one of a few other cartoons riding the success of the Thundercats (we're looking at you too Silverhawks). Anyways although a rip off (many of the voice actors from Thundercats also lent thier vocals to Tigersharks) the cartoon wasn't as terrible as rip offs go. Team members Dolpho, Octavia, Walro, Lorcra, Angel, Gupp, Bronc & team leader Mako valiantly fought the evil T-ray & Captain Brizzarly for 26 episodes as apart of the cartoon block THE COMIC STRIP before going off the air. Fortunately for us ninjas we have the internet & can relive all the ripped off marine awesomeness. Enjoy episode 1 y'all.

Saturday Morning Throwy: Starcom (ep 1)

Good afternoon ninjas sorry this weekend's morning throwy is now an afternoon throwy but who says ninjas have to be punctual, am i right, am i right?? Anyways this weekend's throwy is from 1987 and is based on a toyline like many cartoons that aired in the 80s & 90s. Enjoy Starcom: The US Space Force episode 1.

Saturday Morning Throwy: Beast Machines (ep.1)

From 1999-2001 well before Michael Bay felt the urge to have robots blow sh!t up we got Transformers: Beast Machines. This was the series that followed Transformers: Beast Wars . Which did not impress me at all. But Beast Machines was special to me. It featured a trimmed down team of Tranformers who felt more like refugees than heroes who got back to their homeworld of Cybertron only to find it radically changed. So as to not give away to much i'm going to stop typing and let you enjoy this weekend's throwy.

Saturday Morning Throwy: Robocop (ep.1)

Morning Ninjas! This weekend's throwy comes way back from 1988 with the original Robocop cartoon. What I love about the 80s is that back then no one gave a f@ck. Especially not about children's fragile & impressionable minds. So why not make a cartoon based on one of the most violent, satirical movies of that time. Ahh, the Reagan era, gotta love it. Y'all go ahead and enjoy episode 1.

Saturday Morning Throwy: C.O.P.S (ep:1&2)

Good Morning Ninja's!! Today's throwy comes from C.O.P.S, which aired from 1988-1989. The show also featured the first black main character to not get killed before the end of the opening credits on television & film at the time. With this by default becoming my first black role model. So now that we got the intro out the way grab your Corn Pops, Count Chocula or whatever you get down with in the morning & enjoy episodes 1 AND 2 after the jump.

Saturday Morning Throwy: Bionic Six (ep.1)

This is the first installment of our SATURDAY MORNING THROWY cartoon series where we showcase an episode from our favorite old school cartoons. Why?
