Saturday Morning Throwy: Defenders of Earth (ep1)

What's good ninjas? This weekend's throwy comes all the way from 1986. The DEFENDERS OF EARTH was pretty much the the second great animated team up after Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends which aired from 1984-1986. While Defenders was much more hardcore (Flash Gordon's wife was tortured killed then had her consciousness uploaded into a computer)it only stuck around for one season & 65 episodes. The group consisted of characters that appeared in newspaper comicstrips published by King Features Syndicate. The Phantom, Flash Gordon and Mandrake the Magician were the main characters charged with defending the earth (duh). Rounding out the team of heroes were Lothar, Mandrake's bodygaurd, assistant and seasoned "caribbean ninja" (seriously, his action figure's packaging labeled him a "caribbean ninja". Also there was Rick Gordon, Flash Gordon's computer genius son, L.J., Lothar's son skilled in the martial arts ('cause when your dad is a carribean ninja your extracurriculars are limited) Jedda Walker, Phantom's daughter, Kshin, Mandrake's adopted son and Dynac X aka Dale Arden, the aforementioned psyche of Flash Gordon's murdered wife uploaded into a super computer. Together they fought the evil of Ming the Merciless and other would be evil doers jeopardizing the Earth safety.
